Yunam, a 6100 metre peak is high-altitude trekking peak (in the high-summer months of July and August) located in Lahaul and Spiti region of the state of Himachal Pradesh in the Indian himalyas. Its location on the Manali – Leh highway offers easy access to the base of the mountain from where the approach begins. In July and August when the Indian sub-continent is usually in the middle of the monsoon season, this region is relatively dry, protected by the high mountain ranges. During this time, the approach to the peak can be almost completely devoid of snow involving predominantly climbing and scrambling over boulders and loose rock. Despite the easy of access, the altitude of Mount Yunam merits proper graded acclimatization. From the summit you can see a vast stretch of Lahaul and Spiti area including peaks in the Chandra-Bhaga and Mulkila ranges facing south – south west and Zanskar range peaks to your east, north east.
