Introduction to Skiing

We focus on the correct techniques that will give you the ability to ski down the slope with control and confidence. Guided instruction by leading professionals, good quality and well-maintained equipment will ensure safety and proper progression. Skiing in Kashmir is finally possible!

Gulmarg is the world’s third-highest ski resort and known around the world for its powdery snow runs. Its majestic Apharwat peak (4390m) is the longest ski slope in Asia. The town’s endless slopes and fantastic snow conditions are reason enough to head there for a few days of skiing.

QUICK ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive at Srinagar airport and drive to Gulmarg (50km, 2 hours). Ski fitting.

Day 2: Schussing (skiing straight) and Side-stepping

Day 3: Controlled Fall, Snow Ploughing and turning

Day 4: Side slipping, Basic Swing and Uphill Swing

Day 5: Stem Turns and Parallel Skiing

Day 6: Lets go Skiing! Course Assessment

Day 7:Check out and Departure for Srinagar airport

  • Travel from airport to Gulmarg by taxi and return (will be organized upon request)
  • Personal equipment/ gear
  • Personal porterage (Participants are expected to carry their ski equipment to the slope and back. However, personal porters can also be hired to carry the equipment at a cost of Rs 1200 per day.

Air travel is the most frequently used method to travel to Kashmir, especially in the winter.

By Air:

Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport is a 90 min flight from Delhi. Gulmarg is an hour’s drive from the airport. However, snowstorms can cause occasional delays.
