After a short drive to Sangam Chatti (1-2 hr) on the banks of the Assi Ganga river, we start our trek to the village of Agoda. The walk winds through some small agricultural fields and then continues through a thick deciduous forest. Agoda is a remote Himalayan village and Bevra, our campsite is another 1.5 km further along the trail, nestled in a forest-clearing on the banks of a tributary to the Assi Ganga river.

Day 3: Bevra to Dodital (3100 meters)
Distance: 15 km
Total Ascent & Descent: 1443m and 565m

Today we trek towards Dodital lake (14km, low gradient), going past Manjhi, a summer settlement of the people from Agoda, who come to graze the high-altitude grasslands (bugyals in local language) in the summer season. The lake itself is nestled among a thick-green forest-covered slopes and is teeming with brown and golden trout that are visible from here. Our campsite is near the banks of the lake.

Day 4: Dodital to Darwa pass and to Kanasar (3900 meters)

Total Ascent & Descent: 948m and 298m

The trail takes us alongside a stream that feed the Dodital and climbs steadily to Darwa pass and onward to Darwa top. Panoramic views of the Great Himalayan Range open up from here, especially the striking Banderpoonch (Monkey Tail), Swargorihini and Kala Nag (Black Serpent Peak).

Day 5: Kanasar to Kandoli (2800 meters)
Distance: 10.5 km
Total Ascent & Descent: 307m and 1295m

The trail from Kanasar to Kandoli is a memorable one as you walk on several inter-connected high-altitude meadows which also serve as grazing grounds. After we reach the last meadow of Seema we begin our descent to Camp Kandoli through lush forests of Himalayan oak and rhododendron. Overnight Camp Kandoli.

Day 6: Kandoli to Hanuman Chatti (2400 meters)
Distance: 4.7 km
Total Ascent & Descent: 35m and 764m

The downhill walk today will take us approximately 3 hours, before we start to see the first signs of civilization. We are now in the Hanuman Ganga valley, through which flows the river Yamuna, which finally winds downstream to Delhi (albeit in very bad shape!).
