The short yet rewarding trek to Kareri, a high-altitude lake in the Dhauladhar range, is a lovely Himalayan escape over an extended weekend. This trek will take you through beautiful oak and rhododendron forests, clear snow-fed streams, high Himalayan peaks and a quaint village. DAY 1: DRIVE TO KARERI VILLAGE. OVERNIGHT IN CAMP.
Arrive at Dharamshala airport (Gaggal) where you meet our representative and drive to Kareri village. The drive is approximately 2 hours long. Here you will meet the AntHill guiding team. Overnight in campsite near the village.
DAY 2: KARERI VILLAGE TO REVATI
The walk takes approximately 4-5 hours and follows the Niyund river upstream through thickets of rhododendron and oak forests and spectacular Himalayan scenery. Arrive at the Revati alongside the stream, which will be your campsite for the night.
DAY 3: TREK TO KARERI LAKE
After breakfast we will continue to walk towards Kareri lake. The scenery is sublime as the Niyund makes beautiful natural pools that look inviting for a dip. The walk takes approximately 3 hours to complete.
DAY 4: TREK TO KARERI VILLAGE. DRIVE TO DHARAMSHALA.
After an early breakfast today, we will start the walk back to Kareri village. Notice how the vegetation changes as you descend the mountains. Drive to Dharamshala from Kareri village. Typically, we arrive at Dharamshala by 4:00 pm. Overnight in a hotel.
