Dayara Bugyal is a large expansive meadow, high up above the Bhagirathi river with spectacular views of the higher mountain ranges of the Garhwal himalayas, especially the iconic Banderpoonch massif and the Gangotri ranges. To get here one has to trek through scenic himalayan villages and dense forests of pine and rhododendron. We cross over the Dayara Bugyal to enter the Assi Ganga valley where the scenery makes quite a dramatic change. Dense forests amidst summer settlements of the people from Agoda village provide lovely near-virgin camping ground.
Quick Itinerary
Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to a hotel/ resort in Uttarkashi (180km, 6-7 hours)
Day 2: Trek to Gui (4 hours, 2800 meters)
Day 3: Trek to Dayara Bugyal (3 hours, 3650 meters)
Day 4: Trek to Morapada (3500m, 5 hours)
Day 5: Trek to Agoda village (2200m, 5 hours). Overnight at a hotel/ resort in Uttarkashi.
Day 6: Return to Dehradun

Day 1 : Arrive at Kuflon
Drive to Kuflon, Uttarkashi. Kuflon is an isolated village in the forest and Kuflon Basics provides all the necessary comforts which are much required before the start of your trek and at the end as well. Overnight in the homestay.
Day 2: Trek to Gui (4 hours, 2800 meters)
After an hour’s drive we arrive at Raithal village from where we start the trek which takes us through mixed-forests of pine, chestnut, and rhododendron. Soon views of the snow-capped Gangotri ranges start to open up. On reaching Gui, our campsite, sit back and take in the sight of the snow-capped mountains bathed in the evening light. Overnight in tents.
Day 3: Trek to Dayara (3 hours, 3650 meters)
The next day trek to Dayara meadows, a seemingly endless expanse of high-altitude grazing ground that is covered in a carpet of snow in winters and turns completely green in summers. This sea of green makes for a picturesque foreground to the panoramic views of the Gangotri, Banderpooch and Swargarohini ranges visible from here. Overnight in tents at Chilapada campsite below the meadow.
Day 4: Trek to Morapada campsite (4 hours, 2900m)
After ascending for a short while we begin to descend down towards the Assi Ganga river. Dense forests on this northern face are dotted by occasional channis (summer settlements of nearby villages) which serve as great camping ground as well.
Day 5: Trek to Agoda village. Drive to Kuflon.
We cross the Assi Ganga river and enter Agoda village which is the roadhead. From here Uttarkashi is a 90 min drive. Overnight in a hotel/ resort.

Reach Dehradun from Delhi
By Train: We suggest the Dehradun Shatabdi if you prefer to travel during the day. For overnight travel, the Nanda Devi express is most suitable. Travel time for both trains is approximately (6 hrs).
By Air: The flight time to Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun is 40 min to an hour.
By Road: Overnight Volvo buses (Super Luxury) operated by Uttrarakhand Transport Corporation can be booked here. Travel time is approximately 6-7 hours
Dehradun to Uttarkashi
The distance between Dehradun to Uttrakashi is 144 km and the drive may take 5-6 hours.
