Authentic Trekking in the Indian Himalayas, with AntHill Adventures

Small groups are inherently safer and reduce the impact on the environment.

Imagine towering mountain peaks and rolling hills as far as the eye can see, narrow, winding trails, steep uphill climb that take your breath away quite literally…and then a clearing, with a clear water stream or a waterfall perhaps. The diverse topography of India, blessed with the mighty Himalayas, has many such breathtaking experiences to offer for those willing to seek them out. If you have been looking to trek in the Indian himalayas and love the idea of being in the wilderness our boutique treks could well be your calling.

Climbing and trekking through the tallest mountains of the world while embracing the elements of nature, can be exhilarating and cathartic. Provided it’s done right. Get the raw, real feel of what a trekking experience should feel like with Anthill Adventures. Here’s what makes us different:

Boutique Travel Experiences

At AntHill Adventures we are committed to creating memorable experiences. We understand that the outdoors is a place that we come to seek solitude in nature. Our treks are selected carefully to that end. We choose less frequently trodden treks, limiting our impact.

Experienced Mountains Guides

All the treks are led by either one or both the founding members of Anthill Adventures – Vivasvat Chauhan and Aman Sood – who are trained mountain guides with years of experience in leading treks and expeditions in the Indian himalays. From the time you call to book your trek, to the journey up to the summit and back, they’ll be with you every step of the way. All our guides are Wilderness FIrst Responders, trained at ensuring our clients’ safety under all conditions. Knowing you are in safe hands, helps you enjoy the experience more.

Small Groups

All the Fixed Departure treks by Antill Adventures are limited to a maximum of nine participants. Keeping the trekking groups small is a conscious decision with myriad benefits. First of all, smaller groups ensure a better guide to trekker ratio. Secondly, sharing the experience with a group of like-minded people augments the sense of being in nature. Lastly, and most importantly, smaller groups mean a smaller footprint on the ecosystem of the Himalayas that are already reeling under the increased pressure posed by a recent surge in traveller activities.

Personal Touch

Anthill Adventures prides itself on adding a personal touch to your trek in the Indian himalayas. When you send in an enquiry about one of the upcoming treks, an experienced mountain guide gets in touch with you to understand your expectations. This is followed up by at least one in-person or virtual meeting to take stock of your preparedness for the trek, both logistically and psychologically.

Leave No Trace

Anthill Adventures is mindful of the effect of treks and human footprint on the ecology of the mountains and rigorously follow minimal impact trekking policies. Of these, the foremost is Leave No Trace – wherein anything that does not belong in the mountains, be it organic or inorganic waste, is brought back to the cities for proper disposal. The principles of ethical camping are passed down to on field porters and local guides to ensure its thorough and proper implementation. Moreover, the following

High Quality Equipment

Trekkers are provided with high quality equipment to keep them as comfortable as possible in the outdoor environs. All the equipment is serviced and maintained after each trek to ensure optimum functionality.

Equitable Policies

AntHill Adventures Trekkers and Supporting Team at the Great Himalayan National Park

Anthill Adventures recognises the crucial role played by local on-field guides and porters, and strives to build a lasting relationship with them based on principles of professionalism, respect and fairness. Working with the same set of trusted people on the ground, time after time, brings in a heightened sense of security for everyone involved.

  1. Hey Aman, glad I came across this article as I have been searching for trek operators lately for my cousins who are wanting to go on a winter trek but they seem to be too confused in which trek to choose maybe you could help us figure out and take the required lead. Awaiting your positve response and the photos shared are worth visiting the place.
